Mr. Siva grew up on the Morongo Reservation and attended public schools in Banning, CA. He played Bb Tenor Saxophone in the school bands. His favorite class was Latin (he took college prep. classes). He attended San Bernardino Valley College, San Diego Sate College, LA City College and the University of Southern California, where he received a BM in music and a MA in Choral Music. He taught music at Raymond Cree Jr. High in Palm Springs, CA and Courses in American Indian Music at UCLA, in his career. He received an Honorary Doctorate from California State University in 2009. He serves as Tribal Historian and Cultural Advisor for the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. He and his wife June co-founded the Dorothy Ramon Learning Center in Banning, CA, which works to save and share language, history, culture and arts of Indians of Southern CA. He is the musical director of the Pass Chorale, a community chorus in Banning open to all singers. He also directs the adult choir at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Banning.
